Private Lessons

Lessons

Piano lessons are weekly and may be 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes in length depending on the level and age of the student. 15-minute lessons are available to very young students when appropriate. Tailored to the needs and learning styles of each individual, music theory training and technique are integral components of every lesson. Although the recommended amount of practice time will vary depending on the student, students are typically expected to practice at least five days out of the week for a consistent amount of time.

Online Lessons

Piano lessons are currently available both in-person and online. Online lessons take place on Zoom, and lessons include emailed follow-up notes with any relevant recordings or supplementary materials for practicing reference. Students should have their lesson book(s), pencil, metronome, and any other relevant materials on hand.

Performance Opportunities

There are three youth recitals offered annually - two formal and one informal - as well as a casual performance salon for adult students. When appropriate, students are also encouraged to participate in festivals, competitions, and other performance opportunities in the region. Gardner Piano Studio students have participated in the National Federation of Music Clubs Piano Festival in Burnsville, the Minnesota Music Teachers Association’s State Piano Contest and Honors Recital, the Music Teachers National Association’s eFestival, and more.

Tuition Calendar and Registration Options

Piano lessons are divided into four 3-month quarters throughout the year, and tuition is to be paid in full by the first lesson of each quarter, with the exception of Summer Quarter. Summer Quarter lessons are scheduled on a flexible basis. Payment plans are available upon request.

Materials

Students are required to have an instrument at home for daily practice. It is strongly preferred that students have access to an upright or grand piano rather than a keyboard or digital piano. Students are responsible for the purchase of required lesson books, theory books, and other musical scores as assigned. All students are required to bring a notebook to each lesson.
